Skilled Trades College Launches Gas Technician 3 License Program

New 12-week, TSSA-approved program at STC's Vaughan campus, classes run evenings and weekends starting September 28, 2026

TORONTO, Sept. 17, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Skilled Trades College (STC) has officially opened admissions for its new Gas Technician 3 (G3) License training program, designed to prepare students for the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) certification exam and enter Ontario's gas trade.

Coursework covers the safe handling of natural gas and propane, piping and tubing systems, gas appliances, technical drawings, and the Ontario codes and regulations governing gas installations.

The G3 license is Ontario's mandatory starting point for legally working on natural gas and propane systems, and the prerequisite for everything above it. G3 holders work under the direct supervision of a licensed G2 or G1 technician.

Graduates commonly move into residential gas service, HVAC and gas installation, and building maintenance roles. The training also carries over to adjacent trades, including plumbing and appliance service, where gas systems intersect with heating equipment and building mechanicals. STC's Student Services team supports the transition into apprenticeship by sharing graduate profiles with contractors hiring across Ontario through its employer network.

Applicants must be 18+, hold an OSSD or equivalent, and provide a valid SIN. Mature students without a diploma may qualify through an entrance assessment.
